Coal Creek Parkway

Coal Creek Parkway carries nearly 28,000 cars a day, is an important route for Bellevue and regional commuters, and provides a corridor for a number of utilities. The culvert under the parkway near SE 60th Street was deteriorating and at risk of failure during heavy rains. The City of Bellevue had made a number of short-term repairs to the culvert that extended its lifespan, but engineering analysis concluded that a long-term solution was necessary.

The project, which replaced the existing 9’ diameter culvert with a 39’ wide bridge, included a separated pedestrian pathway underneath the bridge that connects to the Coal Creek Trail and has improved pedestrian safety. The project also included creek restoration and the relocation of above- and below-ground utilities.
