Denny Substation

The north central area of Seattle is experiencing rapid development as a result of the City of Seattle’s efforts to create high-tech/professional jobs, add retail services and grow the local economy.

To ensure the long-term success of this redevelopment, the City and its partners are making considerable investments in transportation, roads and water management. Next up—and crucial to ensuring reliable power through the 21st century—is the upgrade of the electrical infrastructure.

The new substation, located on Denny Way near Stewart Street, will be Seattle City Light’s first and largest substation in 30 years. The Denny Substation Program will increase system-wide reliability and operational flexibility, achieving a major electrical system upgrade for the city of Seattle
