As a company and as individuals, the S&A team is committed to using our time and resources to support the organizations in our communities that are making a difference.

We do this through team volunteer activities, paid volunteer time for employees, and the firm’s financial contributions. The organizations we’ve had the privilege of supporting range from a senior housing provider located within walking distance of our Belltown offices to regional and national organizations working on big issues like civil rights and food security. Individual employees have used their paid volunteer hours to give time to their children’s schools, work at food banks, serve on non-profit boards, march peacefully for racial justice, and participate in get-out-the-vote efforts.

S&A’s firmwide giving back has included:

Working with food security organizations like Food Lifeline that provide meals to those who need them–and advocate for policy changes that will end hunger in the long term. In 2020, S&A packaged 8,500 meals as volunteers for Food Lifeline and provided 10,000 meals through a financial contribution.

Addressing homelessness in partnership with supportive housing organizations like Plymouth Housing that are working to make sure the most vulnerable folks in our community, including seniors and people formerly experiencing homelessness, are sheltered and nourished. To date, we’ve prepared and served 270 lunches for Plymouth Housing residents.

Responding to urgent community needs during the COVID-19 crisis by supporting the assembly of “CARE-19” packages of food, comfort, and health supplies for low-income Seattleites. In 2020, more than 300 CARE-19 packages were assembled and delivered to people in need.

Supporting civil rights and racial justice organizations like Real Rent Duwamish, a group working to right the historical injustice that has denied the Duwamish Tribe compensation for their ancestral land, and Tabor 100, which is enhancing economic power and increasing social equity for African-Americans. In 2020, we contributed to 6 organizations working on issues like these.
